Kisses from Mom

The very best thing about going back to work after spending every day for six weeks with your brand new baby is coming home to him at the end of the day. Covering him in kisses and smelling his sweet soft head and his warm, milky breath. It's the most wonderful thing I can imagine right now. I haven't taken a picture of Gavin's smoochy lips yet, but he often puckers up his lips, particularly after he is finished eating. It is the cutest darn thing in the world. The funny thing is, he doesn't kiss with those smoochy lips - we still need to work on that! Right now he kisses with his mouth wide open. When I start kissing him, he opens his mouth. His breath smells so sweet and his little baby lips are so soft. I just can't stand it. All day long at work I dream of brushing my cheek against the ultra-soft skin of his little head. It's so soft sometimes I can't tell if I'm actually even touching it. ...and those lips... and that smell... I just want to eat him up! Kiss him and hug him and love him forever!

(I wrote this post last night and today it was gone. Completely gone. So, I a had to rewrite it...)

It makes me smile to see you so happy, although it also makes me a little jealous that you get to enjoy all those things and I don't yet. It sure makes it hard to only see his little lips and soft skin in pictures. But, I'll see him in... 6 weeks. That's SO long!

Wish I could bottle his smell and send it to you! Can't wait to see you in six weeks. Any chance you could take that Monday off and stay an extra day? If not, that's okay too, two whole days will be nice. Will you guys stay with me? At least for one night?

Oh, my husband didn't actually ice the cake, his artist friend did. They are such children...

Glad I am not the only one obsessed with candles! :)
