Snow

It snowed 5" yesterday and it looks just beautiful outside again! I was so ready for that dirty frozen world to either thaw out and green up or blanket itself in a fresh, heavy, coat of snow. The snow came. I was so glad to have fresh snow I didn't really even mind my long commute home yesterday totalling almost three hours. I left work at 3:15 and I got home at 6:00. On a few roads close to home, my car was actually acting as a snow plow, pushing through the unplowed snow, sliding around a bit, but managing to stay on the road.

I am looking forward to next winter when Gavin is big enough to play in the snow. We haven't made a snowman yet this year and it is tradition to make a snowman every winter. Maybe this weekend will be our opportunity. Unfortunately, it's going to be too cold for Gavin to be outside, so we'll have to get someone to watch him for us. I just can't be sure that we'll have another weekend with enough sticky snow for a snowman and warm enough temperatures for Gavin to be outside before spring. Next winter is going to be so much fun. Gavin will be a year old and will sled for the first time and be part of snowman building for the first time. We might have to wait another year for his first snowball fight and first time ice skating. I'm not sure he'll be ready for those by next winter. He sure is growing fast though! He is bigger and stronger every day. Soon, we'll be enjoying springtime outside! He'll be outside with us as we plant the garden, mow the yard, paint the shed, and all that fun stuff!

Until Spring comes, I'll take the snow! Here's to a happy snow day! Too bad we all still have to be at work and school. I would have happily taken another 5" this morning if it would have meant I could have stayed all snug and warm at home. I said to Cliff this morning that this was the kind of day you want to have a fire in the fireplace, a cup of hot coffee, and a good book, and just curl up with a blanket by the fire. His reply was, "good thing tomorrow and the next day are days you could do that" I think I just might try to do that one day this weekend. Perhaps I'll trade a sweet little boy for the good book...

I would rather have springtime than winter, but I'd rather have snow with the miserable cold than no snow with the cold! Love to stay warm and toasty inside though!

I can't wait to see your new blog!! What's it about?

Erin's right; the snow is what makes the cold worthwhile!
